System Engineering And Laboratories (SEAL), with over 38 years’ experience, offers services including forensic engineering, expert witness testimony, certified fire, arson, and explosion investigation, safety engineering, product liability, and product and material testing.

Fire Cause Investigations (FCI), the fire and arson investigation division of SEAL, provides fire and explosion cause and origin investigations of any size property loss, heavy equipment and machinery, marine, electrical fires, and fires occurring in passenger and commercial vehicles.  

Our goal is to provide an unbiased independent source for forensic engineering and accident investigation, with laboratory and testing capabilities that support our clients from the first field investigation through expert testimony.

The Forensic Engineer is primarily focused on traveling to perform on-site data collection and investigative services, then developing a written report of observations and findings to the client.  SEAL engineers consistently ensure that the forensic investigations conform to the quality standards of the firm, follow the scientific method, and meet the client needs regarding adherence to financial budget and timeliness of report delivery. 

• Providing expert forensic analysis to clients on an array of multi-disciplined engineering projects, with an unbiased and honest conclusion. 
• Writing & submitting detailed and accurate reports on completed projects in a timely manner.
• Conduct investigations to determine and document the scope of damage.
• Investigating and assessing damage due to failures and determining the origin of failure for insurers and litigation support.
• Analyzing and documenting the causes of failures.
• Communicating and documenting communication with customers to provide timelines
  and project updates. 
• Providing expert deposition and trial testimony as needed
• Industry and/or individual engineering consulting
• Survey data collection from property losses and accident scenes
• Collaborating with Fire Investigators to produce detailed reports outlining the cause and origin of losses and damages.
• Documenting and maintaining time and expense records for engineering projects.
• Providing excellent customer service to company internal and external customers.
• Proactively pursuing additional training and mentoring opportunities, licenses, education, and/or certification (the costs of which are covered by SEAL).

• Actively registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas.
  (Multiple active state P.E. licenses are preferred but not required). 
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field: civil, structural, electrical,
  or mechanical.
